Dear Friends,
A warm welcome to 2020! We have big opportunities ahead of us this year and we are kicking things off with renewed energy and a fresh sense of purpose and direction. We have just celebrated the “most wonderful time of the year!”, well at least it is for me. Meeting friends and relatives who come home for the holidays, the yearend festivities, giving and receiving gifts, and preparing spiritually during the Advent period to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ are all activities I treasure very much. I am sure it is for most others too.
For us at Jetwing, it has been a very busy time of the year. We had bookings peaking around New Year for all our business units, whether it be overseas visitors coming to Sri Lanka or our Sri Lankan customers wanting to do holidays overseas. It was a great time to visit Sri Lanka. The capital city Colombo took on a very different look. Roads were blissfully lit, hotels had beautifully decorated their lobbies and gardens, all the shops offered very attractive promotions and the entire country had come alive! Sri Lankans were at their brilliant best, as they like nothing more than a reason to celebrate!!!
We have just finished our monsoon rains and the country is fresh and lusciously green. It was a beautiful sight indeed. I was fortunate to travel to Yala during this time and do an afternoon drive to the Yala National park with my family. We were lucky to see a lovely Leopard with her four cubs frolicking about. It was a truly beautiful experience. We also saw a large male Leopard at another location. We saw a Peahen with her little chicks (a first timer for me) crossing the road, beautiful array of birds, deer, crocodiles and an unusually large number of Sambar. The weather was nice and cool too, which made the drive extremely pleasant. If you combine this with a stay at the Jetwing Safari Camp with your own butler to take care of you, I can assure you will treasure the experience.
Sri Lanka has continued to be in the list of best places to visit, voted in by visitors from the UK, USA or Australia. Those of you who have visited us know the reasons, don’t you? And those of you who have not yet been over, why not come find out for yourself? Those of you females, who prefer to travel SOLO, well we have good news for you. Sri Lanka has just been voted in as one of the best places for Female Solo travel in Asia! Isn’t that awesome news? So come explore, experience and forge new friendships for the new decade!
Let me end hoping you had a great year to look back on and have enjoyed your holidays with your friends and family. Here’s to wishing you a Joyous New Year from all of us at Jetwing!”
